Arsaze vs DaVinci Resolve

DaVinci Resolve is Blackmagic Design's desktop post-production suite, known above all for color grading, with editing, visual effects and audio in one application. Arsaze is a browser-based multi-track editor that AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Grok can operate directly over MCP. They work together: Arsaze exports an FCPXML project that opens in DaVinci Resolve, so an assistant can assemble the edit in Arsaze and you can finish the grade in Resolve.

What Arsaze does differently

Arsaze is built so that an AI assistant is a first-class operator of the timeline, not a feature inside it. You connect Claude, ChatGPT or Grok to Arsaze over MCP (Model Context Protocol), and the assistant edits the same multi-track timeline you do: it adds, trims and splits clips, cuts silences, adds captions, grades color, mixes audio, generates media and starts exports.

Every edit the assistant makes plays back live in the editor, every edit is versioned as it happens, and you can take over by hand at any point. Arsaze is also a complete manual editor, so using an assistant is optional.

When DaVinci Resolve is the better choice

  • You are doing high-end color grading or finishing.
  • You need node-based visual effects or a full audio post environment in the same application.
  • You want to work entirely offline on your own workstation.

When Arsaze is the better choice

  • You want an AI assistant to assemble the edit: cut silences, find retakes, add captions and b-roll.
  • You want to edit in a browser tab without a workstation, since exports render in the cloud by default.
  • You want client review links and automatic version history built in.

Using both together

Arsaze exports the edit as an FCPXML project that opens in DaVinci Resolve with your cuts, transitions and captions intact. Color grades and audio effects are not part of that export, which suits the common workflow of cutting first and grading in Resolve.

Questions and answers

Is Arsaze an alternative to DaVinci Resolve?

For assembling and finishing many online videos, yes: Arsaze is a full multi-track editor with color wheels, curves, HSL secondaries and LUTs. For high-end grading and finishing, DaVinci Resolve remains the better fit, and Arsaze can hand its edit over as FCPXML.

Can I open an Arsaze edit in DaVinci Resolve?

Yes. Export the edit from Arsaze as an FCPXML project and import it into DaVinci Resolve. Cuts, transitions and captions carry over; color grades and audio effects do not.

Does Arsaze have color grading?

Yes. Arsaze has color wheels, curves, HSL secondaries, LUTs including your own .cube files, and shot matching. Grades are non-destructive and rendered on export.

Is Arsaze free?

There is a free plan with the full editor and 50 one-time welcome AI credits for audio analysis. Exports rendered on your own PC with the Windows app are free and have no watermark.
