Descript is an editor known for text-based editing: you edit a podcast or video by editing its transcript. Arsaze also edits by transcript, and pairs it with a full multi-track timeline, color grading and audio tools that AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Grok can operate directly over MCP. Choose Descript for a transcript-first podcast workflow; choose Arsaze when you want your own AI assistant to edit a full timeline.

What Arsaze does differently
Arsaze is built so that an AI assistant is a first-class operator of the timeline, not a feature inside it. You connect Claude, ChatGPT or Grok to Arsaze over MCP (Model Context Protocol), and the assistant edits the same multi-track timeline you do: it adds, trims and splits clips, cuts silences, adds captions, grades color, mixes audio, generates media and starts exports.
Every edit the assistant makes plays back live in the editor, every edit is versioned as it happens, and you can take over by hand at any point. Arsaze is also a complete manual editor, so using an assistant is optional.
Text-based editing in Arsaze
Arsaze transcribes every clip word by word. Select a sentence and cut it, find retakes, strip filler words and shorten pauses, and the timeline follows the transcript. The transcript is one view of the project; the same edit is always available on the timeline.

- You want transcript editing together with a full grading stack: wheels, curves, HSL secondaries and LUTs.
- You want automatic version history and client review links with frame-accurate comments.
- You want to hand the edit off to DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro as FCPXML.
Questions and answers
Is Arsaze a Descript alternative?
