Works inside your project

Your AI adds layers, keyframes, effects, captions and camera moves in the project you already have open, and you watch it happen.

Every change is one undo

Each AI action is a single Ctrl+Z. Before it changes a saved project, Arsaze saves a restore point you can go back to.

Both ways, with Arsaze

Send a cut to After Effects as a composition. Render it there and it comes back into Arsaze as a clip and a version you can review.

Install in four steps

It takes about two minutes.

  1. 1

    Download the .zxp file

It is a single file. Keep it somewhere you can find it.

  2. 2

Install it with a ZXP installer

Open the file with a ZXP installer such as ZXP Installer from aescripts + aeplugins, which is free. Close After Effects first.

  3. 3

    Open the panel

Start After Effects, then choose Window, Extensions, Arsaze.

  4. 4

Press Sign in to Arsaze. A page opens with a code. Check it matches the panel, then approve.

Versions

Numbered MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH. The Beta label stays on every release until we remove it. The version you have installed is shown at the bottom of the panel.

The first public release of the Arsaze panel for After Effects.

  • Your AI and Arsaze work inside your open After Effects project while you watch, with a live view of what is happening.
  • Send a cut from Arsaze to After Effects as a composition, with its media, captions and markers.
  • Render a composition in After Effects and bring it back into Arsaze as a clip and a saved version you can review.
  • Motion design: animation, effects, camera moves, kinetic type, motion graphics and tracked motion.
  • Every change is one Ctrl+Z. A restore point is saved before each AI change to a saved project.
  • Pause or Stop at any time. Anything beyond a normal edit asks for your OK first.
  • Sign in with a short code. You can disconnect any computer from your account.

What to expect from the beta

Plainly, so you know before you start.

  • Windows 10 or 11 only for now. macOS is not part of this beta.
  • When a cut moves to After Effects, generated scenes, colour and shape clips, keyframed transforms, grades, effects, masks, transitions and speed ramps are not carried over yet. Arsaze lists what was skipped.
  • A restore point needs a saved project. For an unsaved project the panel asks before it continues, and Ctrl+Z still works.
  • The panel works with one After Effects window at a time.

Questions

The panel is complete enough to use on real projects, but it is new and we are still learning from how it behaves in different setups. Updates will come often. Your Arsaze projects and your After Effects projects are never at risk from an update, and every AI change can be undone.

Versions are MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH, for example 1.0.0. A patch number is a fix, a minor number adds something new, and a major number changes how something works. While the panel is in beta the page and the panel both say Beta next to the number. When the beta ends, the same panel will simply drop the label.

After Effects 2021 (version 18) or newer, on Windows 10 or 11.

No. It works in your open project, one undo at a time, and you can Pause or Stop between steps. Anything beyond a normal edit, such as reaching files on your computer, waits for your approval in the panel before it runs.

Download the newest file from this page and install it the same way. It replaces the old one. The version you have is shown at the bottom of the panel.

Compare the file's fingerprint with the one on this page using the steps below. If they match, the file is exactly what we published. If they don't, delete it and download again from this page.

Remove Arsaze in your ZXP installer. To also sign the computer out, open Connect After Effects in your Arsaze account and choose Disconnect.

Write to support@arsaze.com. In the panel, open Settings, then Support information, to copy a short log we can use.
