About
This free online GIF resizer makes an animated GIF smaller, by 25%, 50%, 75%, or to any width you choose up to the original. Resize GIF keeps the frames and their timing, so the animation still plays at the same speed at its new size. Your file is processed in your browser and is not uploaded.
Resize Scale has three presets, 25%, 50% and 75%, and 50% is selected when you open the page. Choose Custom to show a Target Width slider. The slider starts at 100px and stops at the original width, so the page never makes a GIF larger than it was.
The File Size Savings panel shows the original and the resized file sizes once the job is done. The GIF is written again with a shared set of colours, so fine colour detail can change a little, and small text in the animation may soften.

Questions
Is the GIF resizer free?
Yes. The tool is free to use, and there is no sign-up step on the page.
Can I make a GIF bigger with this tool?
No. The presets are 25%, 50% and 75%, and the Custom width stops at the original width, so the GIF can only be made smaller.
Does resizing make the file smaller?
Usually, because a smaller width means fewer pixels to store. The File Size Savings panel shows the original and resized sizes after the job, so you can see the result for your file.
Does the resized GIF keep its animation?
Yes. The frames and their timing are kept, so the animation runs at the same speed at the new size.
Are my GIFs uploaded?
No. The GIF is processed in your browser and is not sent to a server.
Does it add a watermark?
No. The resized GIF contains only your animation at the size you chose.
