About
Pull a still image from a video with a free online video thumbnail maker. Scrub to the moment you want, or pick one of the key moments the tool suggests, then download it as a PNG, JPG or WebP image. The file is processed on your device in your browser and is not uploaded.
The image is the same size as the video's own picture, so a 1080p clip gives a 1080p image. Choose PNG for an exact copy of the frame, or JPG and WebP for a smaller file. For JPG and WebP you can set the quality from 50% to 100%.
The Key Moments row shows six frames spread evenly across the length of the video. Click one to jump to that point and capture it straight away. Drag the slider under the preview to find a moment yourself, and play the video to reach the frame you want.
How to use the Video Thumbnail Generator

Choose a video
Drop an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV file onto the page, or click to pick one. Six key moments are prepared from the video while it loads.

Find the frame
Press play or drag the slider under the preview to reach the moment you want. Clicking a Key Moments thumbnail jumps to that point and captures it.

Choose a format
Under Image Format, choose PNG, JPG or WebP before you capture. For JPG or WebP, set the Quality slider.

Capture and download
Click Capture at followed by the time, then click Download Thumbnail. The file name includes the time of the frame.

What resolution is the thumbnail?
The image has the same resolution as the video's own picture. The tool does not scale a small video up to a larger size.
Can I copy a thumbnail to the clipboard?
Yes, for a PNG thumbnail. Choose PNG before you capture, then click Copy. JPG and WebP thumbnails can be downloaded but not copied from the tool.
Which image formats are available?
The tool saves PNG, JPG and WebP images. PNG keeps every pixel of the frame exactly, while JPG and WebP files are smaller and can be set to a lower quality.
