Arsaze for Mac and Linux is here, next to Windows

The Arsaze desktop app now runs on Mac and Linux as well as Windows. Free transcription, background removal, local projects and exports with no watermark run on your own computer on all three. Here is what each version includes and what it does not yet.

Sidhilynx, AI-Native Video OS

Until today, the free things in Arsaze that run on your own computer needed Windows. If you were on a Mac or on Linux, you used Arsaze in the browser and exported in the cloud. Many of you asked when that would change.

It changes today. The Arsaze desktop app is out for Mac and for Linux, next to the Windows app. You can get all three on the download page.

What you get on every system

The desktop app is the full Arsaze editor in its own window, working on the same projects as arsaze.com. What it adds is the work your own computer can do, which costs you nothing:

  • Transcription on your computer, free forever on every plan. English is transcribed on your machine today; other languages use cloud transcription.
  • Background removal for a person in a clip, with no green screen and no AI credits.
  • Local projects, where your video, audio and images stay on your computer. Unlimited, on any plan.
  • Exports rendered on your own computer. They are free, they do not use your cloud export hours, and they have no watermark.
  • Motion tracking on your computer, with no AI credits.

These are the same on Windows, Mac and Linux, and they are on the Free plan too.

Arsaze for Mac

The Mac app is a beta. It needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 14 Sonoma or newer. It comes as a .dmg: open it and drag Arsaze to Applications.

Two things are different while it is a beta, and we would rather you hear them from us:

  • The app is not signed by Apple yet. The first time you open it, macOS asks you to allow it: open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, and choose Open Anyway.
  • New versions come from the download page for now. The app tells you when there is one.

Screen Studio works on a Mac too. It hears your real clicks and key presses and frames what you clicked, and an AI agent can demo one of your own apps with the mouse and keyboard if you allow it. macOS asks you to grant Screen Recording, Accessibility and Input Monitoring for these. Two parts of Screen Studio are not on a Mac yet: recording the computer's own sound, and swapping the system pointer for a take.

Arsaze for Linux

The Linux app is a 64-bit AppImage. Download it, make it executable with chmod +x, and run it. There is nothing to install.

Editing, transcription, background removal, local projects and local exports all work as they do on Windows. In Screen Studio, an agent can drive a browser and record it. Hearing your real clicks and key presses, and agents using your own apps, are on Windows and Mac only for now. On Linux, Screen Studio reads clicks and typing from the picture, the same way it does in the browser.

Arsaze for Windows

The Windows app runs on Windows 10 and 11. In this version an AI agent can demo one of your own apps with your real mouse and keyboard while you watch, and only if you switch that on. Screen Studio records the take and cuts it like one of yours.

The same export everywhere

A video you export on a Mac should look like the one you would get on Windows, on Linux or from our servers. We do not take that on trust. Before a version is released, the same test projects are rendered on Windows, on Linux, on a Mac and in the cloud, and the results are compared with the cloud render frame by frame, with the sound. If any system fails the comparison, nothing is published.

What still needs the internet

Your projects live in your Arsaze account, so the app needs a connection while you edit and while a local export runs. The transcription, the background removal and the render itself happen on your computer.

All three are on the download page, each with its fingerprint so you can check the file is ours. If something does not work on your Mac or your Linux setup, write to support@arsaze.com and tell us what you run. These two are new, and that is how they get better.

Questions people ask

Is there an Arsaze app for Mac?

Yes. Arsaze for Mac is a beta for Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later) on macOS 14 Sonoma or newer. It is not signed by Apple yet, so the first time you open it you allow it under System Settings, Privacy & Security, Open Anyway.

Does Arsaze run on Linux?

Yes. Arsaze for Linux is a 64-bit AppImage. You make it executable with chmod +x and run it; there is nothing to install.

Are the free features the same on Mac and Linux as on Windows?

Yes. Transcription, background removal, local projects, motion tracking and exports with no watermark run on your own computer on Windows, Mac and Linux, on every plan including Free.

Does Arsaze work on an Intel Mac?

The Mac app is for Apple silicon. On an Intel Mac, Arsaze works in the browser at arsaze.com with cloud export.

What is missing on Mac and Linux?

On a Mac, Screen Studio cannot yet record the computer's own sound or swap the system pointer for a take. On Linux, Screen Studio does not hear real clicks and key presses, and agents cannot use your own apps; it reads clicks from the picture, as it does in the browser. Editing and the free on-device features are the same on all three.

Do exports look the same on every system?

They are checked to. Before each release the same test projects are rendered on Windows, Linux, Mac and in the cloud, and compared with the cloud render frame by frame. A release is published only if every system passes.
