A lot of people only want to trim a clip and export it, and they do not want their footage to go anywhere to do that. Local projects are for them.
What a local project is
In the Arsaze Windows app you can create a local project. Your video, audio and images stay on your PC. They are not uploaded and they are not analyzed on our servers. You can create as many local projects as you want, on any plan, and they do not count toward your plan's project limit.
AI is off in a local project. Arsaze's own AI does not read the files. What does run is transcription on your PC, which is free, so text-based editing and captions still work without your audio going anywhere.
What we still store, and why
We want to be exact, because privacy copy that blurs this is not worth much. The media is local. The edit is not. The timeline, which is a list of cuts and settings, and its version history are saved in your account. That is how you get full undo and history, and it is why you need an internet connection while you edit.
We chose this over a fully offline design on purpose. Keeping the timeline in your account means you never lose an edit if a laptop dies, and the version history does not depend on one machine. Your plan does not limit the versions kept for a local project.
What you can do
- Cut, trim, arrange and keyframe on the full multi-track timeline.
- Grade color, mix audio and record a voiceover.
- Transcribe on your PC and edit by text.
- Export on your PC, free, with no watermark.
What is locked
Pages that need the cloud or AI are visible but locked: Plan, Animate, generation, Playground and client review. Clicking one takes you to the page where you can convert the project. There is no cloud export from a local project.
Converting to the cloud
When you want AI or want to share a project, convert it in one click. It is a one-way change: after it, the files are uploaded and the project behaves like any cloud project. The default choices on the convert page spend nothing, so no cloud analysis starts until you tick it.
AI assistants and local projects
MCP access for local projects is not available today. We kept it closed so that nothing could leave a local project by accident. Many of you asked for it anyway, so we are building it for October 2026. When it ships you will be able to connect the assistant you choose, such as Claude. Arsaze's own in-house AI will still not see or touch your local files.
Try it
Open Arsaze for Windows and create a local project. The summary is on the private video editor page.
