You do not need a green screen to put a person in front of something else. In the Arsaze app for Windows you can cut a person out of any clip on your own PC, for free, on every plan.
How it works
Choose a clip that has a person in it and start the cutout. Your processor finds the person in each frame and keeps only them. When it finishes you have a new clip next to the original. It is a WebM video with a real alpha channel: the person from your footage, and nothing behind them. The original is left exactly as it was.
It runs on your computer, so it uses no AI credits and has no per-clip fee. That is true on the Free plan too.
What to do with the result
- Place the cutout on a track above other footage, a color, a graphic or a generated scene.
- Swap the background behind someone without having shot on green.
- Put a presenter over slides or a screen recording.
- Put a title behind a person so the text looks like part of the scene.
- Bring the person into an Animate scene with motion graphics around them.
Because the cutout is an ordinary clip, everything else in the editor works on it. You can trim it, move it, add keyframes and track it. If you want a label to follow the person, track them first.
Where it struggles
We are not going to tell you it is perfect, because no automatic cutout is.
- It is built for people. It is not a general tool for isolating objects.
- Loose hair, motion blur and busy backgrounds make any cutout harder. Look at the edges on the timeline before you build on it.
- How long it takes depends on your computer and the length of the clip.
- The free version is the on-device one in the Windows app. In the browser it runs in the cloud and needs a paid plan.
Why it is free
A cutout in the cloud costs us compute every time, so it draws on credits there. On your own PC the work is done by your processor, so we have nothing to bill. For the same reason, transcription on your PC is free too.
