This month we shipped six things. Two of them are free forever for everyone who uses the Windows app, on every plan: transcription and background removal. The other four are a way to edit without uploading your footage, motion tracking, a much bigger Animate Studio and a panel for After Effects. Here is what each one is, who it is for, and what it does not do yet.
Free transcription, forever
Add a video in the Windows app and Arsaze transcribes it on your own PC. Every word is timed, so you can edit by deleting text, cut silences and filler words, and caption the result. It is free on every plan, including Free. It spends no AI credits, there is no per-minute charge and there is no allowance to run out of.
English is transcribed on your machine today. Speech in other languages is transcribed in the cloud, which uses AI credits. The long version is in Free video transcription that runs on your own PC.
Free background removal
Pick a clip with a person in it, and your processor cuts them out frame by frame. You get a new clip with a transparent background that you can place over anything. No green screen, no credits, no fee, on every plan. It is built for people, not for arbitrary objects. See how to remove a video background for free.
Local projects: edit without uploading
A local project keeps your video, audio and images on your PC. You can have as many as you like on any plan, with no AI and no analysis of your media on our servers. The timeline and its version history are saved in your account, so every edit can be undone and you need to be online while you edit. When you want AI features, you convert the project to the cloud in one click. This is covered in Edit without uploading your footage.
We are building MCP access for local projects for this month, because many of you asked for it. Until it ships, local projects stay closed to AI assistants on purpose.
Motion tracking
Draw a box around a face, a product or a number plate, or describe it. Arsaze follows it through the shot and turns the track into a result in one click: blur, cover, spotlight, magnify, label, follow cam, lock on or steady. A bigger Animate Studio
Animate now has keyframes on any property, effects, a 3D camera with depth of field, motion blur, motion tracking, a camera solve and audio tracks. Everything is plain markup on a timeline, which is why an AI can write it and you can still edit it. The details are in What is new in Animate Studio.
An After Effects panel
The Arsaze panel for After Effects lets your AI build motion inside your open project while you watch. Each change is one Ctrl+Z. Cuts go from Arsaze to After Effects as compositions, and renders come back as clips and versions. It is a Windows beta for After Effects 2021 or newer. More in Arsaze for After Effects.

The questions we would ask any editor are what it does on your own machine, what it charges per minute of speech or per cutout, and where your footage goes.
